GRAINCORP CARRINGTON
2022 - CURRENT
At GrainCorp Carrington, scaffolding is crucial for providing access to elevated areas of the grain storage and handling equipment, such as silos, conveyors, and hoppers, during planned outages and maintenance.
Workers rely on Sabel Rigging and Scaffolding to provide safe access, to inspect, repair, and replace components, including motors, bearings, and conveyor belts.
Rigging plays an equally important role in safely lifting and installing heavy machinery and parts, including large pulleys and structural elements. Rigging is essential for the safe movement and installation of oversized equipment, ensuring that large components could be maneuverered and secured effectively.
Graincorp is connected to the Port of Newcastle. Sabel Rigging and Scaffolding provide access to key areas of the bulk handling equipment, including cranes, ship loaders, and conveyor systems, facilitating routine maintenance and emergency repairs.

HEATHERBRAE BYPASS
SEYMOURE WHYTE
2024 - CURRENT
As part of this major road project, Sabel Rigging and Scaffolding is providing safe access to elevated areas, including bridge structures, overpasses, and culverts.

The construction of the bypass requires scaffolding for various tasks such as the installation of bridge beams, formwork for concrete pouring, and the construction of drainage systems. Workers relied on scaffolding to safely perform high-level tasks like welding, bolting, and installing reinforcements for the bridge decks

Sabel Rigging and Scaffolding ensures construction teams can work efficiently and securely while minimising the risk of accidents in difficult-to-reach areas. The careful planning and execution of scaffolding systems are crucial in maintaining the project's timeline and safety standards, allowing the Heatherbrae Bypass to be built with minimal disruption to the surrounding area and traffic flow.

VISY PAPER MILL - MAJOR OUTAGE
UNI-SPAN AUSTRALIA PTY LTD
OCTOBER 2022, OCTOBER 2023, OCTOBER 2024
The major outage at Visy Paper Mill in Tumut involves extensive scaffolding in the boiler area to facilitate essential maintenance and inspections. During the planned shutdown, scaffolding was crucial for providing safe access to the elevated and confined spaces within the boiler, where workers conducted a variety of tasks such as cleaning, inspecting boiler tubes, and performing weld repairs.
The boiler is a key component of the mill's energy generation system, and its maintenance is critical to ensuring efficient and safe operation. Sabel Rigging and Scaffolding worked along side ACROW to strategically erect scaffold around the boiler’s structure, including the combustion chamber, superheaters, and economizers, to allow workers to access high and difficult-to-reach areas.
This major outage allows workers to safely replace worn components, remove buildup, and carry out necessary repairs while minimising the risk of injury. This careful coordination of scaffolding installation and maintenance activities helped minimise downtime, allowing Visy Paper Mill to return to full capacity promptly while maintaining high safety and operational standards.

TALLAWARRA POWER STATION - STAGE B
KJ SCAFFOLDING
JULY 2023 - MARCH 2024
Stage B involved the addition of a 300-megawatt gas-fired open-cycle gas turbine (OCGT) unit, designed to enhance the capacity and flexibility of the power station. This new unit was built to provide fast-starting, dispatchable electricity, offering crucial support to the grid, especially during peak demand periods or when renewable energy sources, like solar and wind, are not sufficient

Scaffolding was crucial for providing safe access to the elevated structures and for ensuring the workers could perform intricate tasks at height, such as welding, bolting, and fitting equipment. Sabel Rigging and Scaffolding assisted with project requirements of the installation of temporary scaffolding systems around the turbine hall and other key facilities, allowing for the precise assembly of machinery and the routing of pipes and electrical systems.

Given the scale of the project and the need for safety and efficiency, the scaffolding was meticulously designed and erected in stages to accommodate ongoing construction activities, ensuring stability and compliance with industry safety standards.
BAYSWATER POWERSTATION
PROGRAMMED
JULY - DECEMBER 2023
The major outage works at Bayswater Power Station for Unit 2 involved extensive scaffolding to facilitate critical maintenance and repairs. During the outage, which took place over a scheduled period of 6 months, scaffolding was essential in providing workers with safe and stable access to high and complex areas within the unit, such as the boiler, turbine, and electrical systems.

These areas required detailed inspections, cleaning, and the replacement of worn or damaged components, including valve parts, and heat exchangers. Scaffolding structures were carefully designed and erected around the plant’s large equipment to allow for efficient maintenance and minimise operational downtime.

Sabel Rigging and Scaffolding supported workers carrying out repairs to the unit’s air preheaters and the installation of upgrades to improve the unit's efficiency and compliance with environmental standards. The safe and effective use of scaffolding was critical in completing the outage works on time, ensuring that Unit 2 was returned to full operational capacity without compromising safety or performance.
